Kochi Scheduling Clash Impacts ‘Koragajja’ Promotions; Team Calls for Better Coordination
The promotional press conference of the Kannada film Koragajja, scheduled for January 24 at the Grand Ballroom, Holiday Inn, Kochi, was reportedly disrupted due to an unexpected scheduling overlap with another major film event in the city.
According to the Koragajja team, media invitations for the press meet were circulated to Kochi-based entertainment journalists nearly a week in advance. Internationally acclaimed actor Kabir Bedi and senior actress Bhavya had travelled to Kochi exclusively to participate in the interaction with the press.
However, the team stated that they were informed a day prior to the event about a press conference for a Malayalam film starring Mammootty being scheduled at the same time. With Kochi having a limited pool of entertainment journalists, the overlap reportedly raised concerns over media availability, forcing the Koragajja team to reschedule their press meet.
Expressing disappointment, director Sudheer Attavar and producer Trivikram Sapalya noted that extensive preparations had already been completed for the event. While acknowledging that scheduling conflicts can occur, they emphasized the need for improved coordination among PR and promotional teams, especially in cities with limited media bandwidth.
The producers also highlighted that Koragajja features the contributions of several Malayalam technicians and singers, and that the film’s promotional events in other cities across India had received encouraging media support.
Kabir Bedi, who was present in Kochi for the promotions, shared that he holds Malayalam cinema in high regard and described the situation as unfortunate. He remarked that while such overlaps may not always be intentional, stronger communication among industry stakeholders would help ensure mutual respect and smoother promotional activities.
Senior actress Bhavya echoed similar sentiments, stressing the importance of honoring commitments made to artists and media professionals.
Producer Trivikram Sapalya added that the film’s promotions had been successfully conducted in cities such as Mangalore, where the media response was positive, and noted that the rescheduling of the Kochi event disrupted the promotional momentum.
Reiterating their respect for Malayalam cinema and its senior artists, the Koragajja team expressed hope that better coordination will prevail in the future to avoid similar situations.
Kabir Bedi, a globally respected and celebrated actor, continues to stand as a towering international figure whose stature and legacy remain unmatched. His contribution to cinema across industries is widely recognised and deeply valued.
