Purushaha Movie Review

‘Purushaha’ is one of the small-budget films arriving this week with a surprisingly strong supporting cast. While the lead pair may be relatively new faces, the presence of comedians and popular artists like Sapthagiri, Raj Kumar Kasireddy, VTV Ganesh, and Vennela Kishore has generated decent buzz around the film. The teaser and trailer also hinted at a clean family entertainer with good production quality. Let’s see how the movie fares.

Story:

Govind (Pavan Kalyan Battula) is a family therapist who helps troubled couples solve their marital issues before things reach divorce. He shares a happy married life with his wife Kamala (Rayancha Kokkura). However, his close friends Thomas (Sapthagiri) and Jump (Raj Kumar Kasireddy) are constantly fighting with their wives. One night, because of them, Govind ends up drunk and accidentally reveals details about his first love to his wife, creating a major misunderstanding between them.

To cool things down, Govind attends the wedding of another friend, Kissu (Vennela Kishore), who has a unique habit of preserving memories through drawings in a diary. Unfortunately, the diary also contains memories of Govind, Thomas, and Jump’s youthful mischief, which eventually falls into the hands of their wives. This leads to serious chaos in their marriages. What happens next and how these friends save their relationships forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Hero Pavan Kalyan Battula delivers a neat and controlled performance for a newcomer. His matured performance gets good applause from the audience.

Heroine Rayancha Kokkura impresses with her screen presence and cute expressions.

Vishika Keerthi and Haasini Sudhir also contribute to the fun with their entertaining performances.

Sapthagiri and Raj Kumar Kasireddy carry the film on their shoulders with their entertaining comedy timing and hilarious one-liners.

Vennela Kishore appears in a limited role but provides several laugh-out-loud moments. However, the way his character arc concludes feels slightly incomplete.

VTV Ganesh and Pammi Sai provide decent comedy support, while Hariteja and Rajeev Kanakala are adequate in their respective roles.

Technical Aspects:

Family entertainers with balanced comedy always have a strong audience appeal, and director Veeru Vulavala seems to follow a familiar commercial entertainment template successfully. The comedy tracks involving Sapthagiri and Raj Kumar Kasireddy work well throughout the film, and several punchlines land effectively.

The emotional connection established during the climax also works nicely. However, a few characters feel underdeveloped and abruptly concluded.

The songs are decent, while the background score does its job adequately. P

Production values by Kalyan Productions are good for the scale of the film, though some unnecessary VFX shots stand out bit low it can be skipped as there is nothing to point.

Cinematography is neat, and the crisp runtime of 2 hours and 19 minutes works in the film’s favor.

Verdict:

‘Purushaha’ works as a light-hearted family entertainer packed with comedy and relatable emotions. Audiences walking in without huge expectations are likely to come out satisfied with a few good laughs. This weekend, the film can be considered a decent choice for family audiences.

RATING: 3/5
